Safran

Safran took shape during the course in Type Design at the Politecnico of Milan. The objective was to design a typeface that was printable in very small body sizes (around 3 points).

The reference text for Safran Irregular is the novel "Everything is illuminated" by Jonathan Safran Foer (2002).

The solution designed is open the junctions, turning them into a spiky ending and a flat side that would connect only under 7 points body size. The letter structure was inspired from hebrew alphabet. Regular, bold and italic versions were developed.
